Horizon Zero Dawn, PC requirements version are nothing short of impressive

Horizon Zero Dawn PC requirements

More than three years after the launch on PlayStation 4, the developer, Guerrilla Games and the publisher, PlayStation Mobile, Inc , are preparing to publish Horizon Zero Dawn ( here our review of the console version) on Steam and Epic Games Store . Apparently the porting of the game will be quite sophisticated and require a high performance machine.

Here are the requirements:

  • Operating system: Windows 10
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-2500k or AMD FX 6300
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • GPU: Geforce GTX 780 3GB or AMD Radeon R9 290 4GB
  • DirectX: version 12
  • HDD: 100GB of free space

  • Operating system: Windows 10
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-4770k or Ryzen 5 1500X
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • GPU: 6 GB Geforce GTX 1060 or 8 GB AMD Radeon RX 580
  • Direct X: version 12
  • HDD: 100GB of free space

Neither of the two online stores has specified which type of performance can be expected with these specifications, but suppose that at the minimum Horizon Zero Dawn will run at 1080p and 30 FPS while at maximum at 1080p or 1440p at 60+ FPS . This is only a hypothesis, and may vary. And if you intend to go further, perhaps reaching 4K, with a high FOV and a framerate unlocked on a high refresh rate monitor, obviously you will have to take into account what has been said.

To make you understand how expensive the requirements are, just make a quick comparison with another “ex” exclusive PlayStation 4: Death Stranding . The title was in fact published a few weeks ago on PC. Comparing the two games, it can be seen that Horizon Zero Dawn requires twice the RAM and considerably more CPU power, which is nothing short of surprising.

At this point the question arises spontaneously, Horizon Zero Dawn is more than three years old, so in theory there shouldn’t have been any major problems making it work best on mid-range gaming PCs. Isn’t it that Guerrilla Games has updated it, perhaps adding more details that we are not aware of?

To find out, we just have to wait patiently for August 7 , the date on which Horizon Zero Dawn will be available for purchase on Steam and Epic Games Store.
