How to Wear a Surgical Mask – Properly

how to wear surgical mask

Proper Way to Wear Surgical Mask

Whether you’re concerned about personal protection from germs while in public or you’re performing open-heart surgery next week, a surgical mask helps protect you from outside contamination and vice versa. There are pre-fabricated surgical masks, but sometimes it’s more fun to make your own. Constructing your own surgical mask can also be a good idea if you’re making a doctor costume for Halloween and you need a durable mask. Best of all, a mask you make yourself can be customized to fit your own face.

Make a pattern for your surgical masks. Get a piece of paper and cut out a rough surgical mask shape. Hold it up to your own face and look in the mirror. Is it too big or small? Does it extend too close to your eyes or down below your chin? Keep trimming away paper until you have the shape you want. This is now the pattern for your surgical masks. If you’re planning on making lots of masks, transfer the paper pattern to sturdy cardboard.

Put your pattern over some soft, thick fabric. Draw the pattern onto the fabric as many times as necessary to make the number of masks you need. Leave a little extra to account for any mistakes you might make. After all, you can always trim the fabric a little, but you can’t put any back.

Cut 1/2-inch strips of the fabric. Fold these in half and sew them around the edges of your masks to make the edge strong and keep them looking even. These also make the seal a little stronger to keep your breath from spreading too much.

Attach elastic strips to the surgical masks so you can loop them around your ears, securing the surgical mask in place. You have many options. You can get small cords of elastic and run them through the top and bottom seams of the masks. You can simply sew the lengths of elastic cable to the masks at the top and bottom of the sides, making ear loops.

Try on the first surgical mask you make to ensure you’re on the right track. Make adjustments to the length of elastic for a tighter or looser fit. This is also an opportunity to see how the mask looks in use. If the elastic pulls the mask too close to your eyes, trim the next mask a little bit to see if you get a better fit.

The Popeyes Running and Sold Out of Chicken Sandwich

  • Popeyes locations are running out of chicken sandwiches because of high demand for the new menu item.
  • The sandwich was an immediate hit, sparking a massive social-media debate over the best chicken sandwiches in fast food.
  • Dozens of people reported on social media that as of Tuesday their local Popeyes had run out of chicken sandwiches.
  • Visit Business Insider’s homepage for more stories.

Popeyes is selling out of chicken sandwiches as the frenzy over the new menu item reaches a fever pitch

Popeyes is facing a chicken-sandwich shortage following the rollout of its new menu item.

Last week, Popeyes added a chicken sandwich to the menu. It was an immediate hit, winning over Business Insider’s fast-food critic Irene Jiang. Fans were quick to crown it the king of chicken sandwiches.

The debate over the Popeyes’ chicken sandwich reached a boiling point this week as Popeyes feuded with its chicken-sandwich rivals Chick-fil-A and Wendy’s on Twitter.

The debate seems to be driving sales. And Popeyes is struggling to keep up with demand.

Dozens of people on social media have complained that their local Popeyes is sold out of chicken sandwiches.

Business Insider visited two Popeyes locations in Manhattan early Tuesday afternoon. Both were sold out of chicken sandwiches.

“Many of our restaurants have seen a high demand for the sandwich, with guests excited to give it a try,” a representative for Popeyes said in an email to Business Insider. “A few restaurants have temporarily sold out of the sandwich, and we are working to make sure they receive more as soon as possible.”

In case you hadn’t heard, Popeyes recently released a chicken sandwich. And in the very short time it’s been around, there’s been A LOT of hype.

related:Popeyes Chick fil A War Will Be Fought Through Memes

Although a lot of chain restaurants have introduced chicken sandwiches over the last few years, none have garnered quite as much immediate buzz as the new one served at Popeyes. And now, less than two weeks after the dish’s nationwide release, it seems that battle lines are being drawn between Chick-fil-A fans and loyal Popeyes customers over which chain serves the One Chicken Sandwich to Rule Them All.

Popeyes Locations Are Actually Running Out Of Chicken Sandwiches And People Are Kind Of Panicking

And now people are actually having trouble finding the new chicken sandwich at their nearest Popeyes locations — like, people have literally been calling to ask if they’re in stock…

Our Taste Test of the Most Popular Chicken Sandwiches Was Severely Flawed

First came The Sandwich. Then came the gradually louder social media buzz, accelerated by manufactured brand wars on Twitter, and buoyed by a flood of accompanying media coverage that shows no signs of slowing down. Now, less than two weeks after Popeyes rolled out its new fried chicken sandwich nationwide, we are in the third stage of the hype cycle, in which heated debates and shortages and hot takes and backlash build off each other, stoking the mania like kindling in flames. And at the center of the storm — the Popeyes chicken sandwich, which has been so memes and mythologized that it’s easy to lose sight of what it actually is: a perfectly fine product of impeccable food engineering and cheap labor and ingredients that form the backbone of fast food.

Now that is what you call a successful product launch.

Like every other publication driven to cover the sandwich by the twin forces of pageviews and genuine excitement, Eater — the news team, not the critics who are actually qualified to review food — decided to conduct an unofficial taste test of multiple fast-food chicken sandwich offerings. We are not the first to do so, nor will we be the last. We cannot at all guarantee that our test was the most rigorous or all-encompassing; that honor would probably have to go to the Chicago Tribune. But what we can promise you is that our taste test was severely flawed, impeded by our own hubris and other human limitations. (For instance, I dropped one test chicken sandwich on the floor and didn’t immediately dismiss the wild thought of, “Can I still serve this??” More on that later.)

Here is Eater’s taste test of four fast-food chicken sandwiches:

Methodology and process

The initial shortlist of fast-food chains to patronize for this test included PopeyesChick-fil-AWendy’sShake ShackMcDonald’sFuku, and Burger King. We dropped McDonald’s and Burger King because neither chain is particularly known for chicken sandwiches. Fuku was also eventually cut because it’s not widely available across the U.S., and also my editor who was supposed to pick it up was Popeyes running Out of Chicken Sandwich late because she had to wait an extremely long time at Popeyes, despite ordering in advance! Therefore, our final chains were: Popeyes (chicken sandwich, which was supposed to be spicy but in the chaos, they gave us regular instead), Chick-fil-A (spicy chicken sandwich), Shake Shack (chicken sandwich), and Wendy’s (spicy chicken sandwich). FLAW: CONFUSION AND LAZINESS.

We planned to buy two sandwiches of each and cut them into fourths so that eight Eater staff members could participate in the tasting. It would be a “blind” test, a.k.a. tasters wouldn’t know which sandwich hailed from which chain. We decided to figure out the other details of testing later. FLAW: LACK OF FORESIGHT.

44 Strangest Museums In USA to Visit You Won’t Believe Actually Exist

From disturbing oddities to “why-does-this-deserve-an-entire-museum?” subjects, these are the types of out-of-the-box attractions that make America what it is.

Alabama: Spear Hunting Museum

LESPALENIK/SHUTTERSTOCK

Make your way to Summerdale, Alabama, and you can take a stop by the Spear Hunting Museum, founded by and dedicated to the late Gene Morris, the self-proclaimed “greatest living spear hunter in the world” in his day. Most walls are covered with taxidermied animals, animal heads, and horns from his expeditions.

Alaska: Hammer Museum

RUBEN M RAMOS/SHUTTERSTOCK

The Hammer Museum in Haines is apparently “the world’s first museum dedicated to preserving the history of the hammer”—and it probably didn’t have too much competition reaching that title. Items on display include hammers used for crushing ice on planes in the ’70s and ’80s (back in the days when you could get free peanuts) and a hammer designed for 1950s cowboys. Find out about other crazy world records that have been broken in each state.

Arizona: The Mini Time Machine Museum of Miniatures

COURTESY THE MINI TIME MACHINE MUSEUM OF MINIATURES

This is no ordinary history museum. The Mini Time Machine Museum of Miniatures tells stories—historic, magical, and everything in between—through teeny tiny figurines. Take a sneak peek inside a Japanese farmhouse, a 19th-century German grocery store, and Santa’s elves hard at work.

Arkansas: Maxwell Blade’s Odditorium & Curiosities Museum

JACOB BOOMSMA/SHUTTERSTOCK

What would you expect from illusionist Maxwell Blade except a collection of the weird and wonderful? Fair warning: Maxwell Blade’s Odditorium & Curiosities Museum isn’t for the easily creeped-out. The museum is an extension of the Hot Springs theater where he performs, and it’s filled with some of the strangest artifacts you never knew you’d want to know about. Stop by before a show (or on any day) to catch a glimpse of more than 300 items of intrigue, like an accidentally mummified cat, preserved reptiles, and a model ship that uses human hair for its rigging.

California: International Banana Museum

OVIDIU HRUBARU/SHUTTERSTOCK

There’s just something a-peel-ing about the International Banana Museum. As its website says, it holds all the “banana related items you can possibly think of and some you’ve never thought of.” Just a taste of its memorabilia includes banana record players, banana staplers, and banana slippers; jade bananas, alabaster bananas, and wooden bananas. We’re going bananas just thinking about it all.

Colorado: Lee Maxwell Washing Machine Museum

BOB BOOKHART/SHUTTERSTOCK

Just in case you wanted more laundry in your life, the Lee Maxwell Washing Machine Museum is home to all the washers you wanted and many, many more. One thing is for sure: After seeing the 1903 hand-operated washer, you’ll come home thankful for your newfangled Energy Star washer and dryer.

Connecticut: The Witch’s Dungeon Classic Movie Museum

LARALOVA/SHUTTERSTOCKWhen you see a name like Witch’s Dungeon, you know you’re about to get a spooky experience unlike anything else. The idea started in 1966, when then-13-year-old Cortlandt Hull thought wax museum “Chambers of Horrors” were lacking, and his smaller monster models just weren’t cutting it. His parents helped him build life-size models, and he made enough to open a full-size museum dedicated to classic horror and sci-fi movies. Since then, the collection and its artifacts have only grown and improved, and the museum has gotten support from big-name actors like Vincent Price. Visit to see your favorite (and most feared) Hollywood monsters like the Frankenstein and the Phantom of the Opera.

Delaware: Zwaanendael Museum

JOHN M. CHASE/SHUTTERSTOCK

A museum celebrating the history of Dutch colonists in Delaware wouldn’t seem so strange if it weren’t for one notable item featured in the Zwaanendael Museum: the Fiji Merman. Most family heirlooms include jewelry and china, but for a century, one family kept their hands on a grotesque imaginary creature made of a fish and a shrunken monkey head, thought to have been created in China in the mid-1800s. Don’t miss these other 13 of the world’s most bizarre tourist destinations.

Florida: The Waste Pro Garbage Truck Museum

COURTESY RON PECORA, CMO WASTE PRO USA

You won’t believe the strangest food laws from every state.

COURTESY THE IDAHO POTATO MUSEUM

RV aficionados will also want to know the best RV park in every state.

Iowa: Matchstick Marvels

SHUTTERSTOCK

Models made of matchsticks aren’t the most popular artistic medium, but that’s exactly what makes artist Pat Acton’s works all the more impressive. His intricate creations displayed at the Matchstick Marvels museum are as beautiful as they are mind-boggling—his Notre Dame cathedral model is made of 298,000 matchsticks, and the life-size sci-fi–inspired steam engine took more than one million of those tiny wooden sticks.

Kansas: Kansas Barbed Wire Museum

MARGARITA KOSIOR/SHUTTERSTOCK

Bet you didn’t know there were more than a handful of types of barbed wire, let alone the 2,000 varieties displayed at the Kansas Barbed Wire Museum. But that’s not all this museum has in store. It’s also full of bottles of quack cures for barbed wire injuries, a life-size cowboy diorama, and—if you’re lucky enough to visit in May—a convention of buying and selling wires, and the world championship for barbed wire splicing.

Kentucky: Vent Haven Museum

ILIANA CLARISA/SHUTTERSTOCK

Hard to believe there’s apparently only one ventriloquism museum in the world, the Vent Haven Museum. It features more than 900 dummies, including a group sitting in rows of chairs like their very own audience.

Louisiana: Abita Mystery House

COURTESY AIRSTREAMPHOTO

You don’t have to go to New Orleans to be met with strange things in Louisiana when there are places like the Abita Mystery House in Abita Springs. You never know what you’ll find, but it’s easy to see why it’s considered the state’s most eccentric museum. Feast your eyes on a collection of combs (which don’t seem to have any special significance), a “dogigator” resembling a dog-alligator hybrid, and some admittedly cute paint-by-number artwork. Ghost lovers will want to check out the 22 most haunted places in America.

Maine: International Cryptozoology Museum

PAUL JUSER/SHUTTERSTOCK

Cryptozoology, as the International Cryptozoology Museum explains, is the “study of hidden animals.” No, not shy or near-extinct animals, but ones that have never been seen by humans. Like, ever. Despite the lack of scientist-approved evidence of these, ahem, rare beasts, the museum is filled with evidence like “real” Yeti hair and footprints, plus models of creatures like the feline-serpent Tatzelwurm and the Beast of Bray Road. This is the strangest animal that can actually be found in each state.

Maryland: Havre de Grace Decoy Museum

LUNAMARINA/SHUTTERSTOCK

Decoys may have first been made to lure ducks in for hunters, but at the Havre de Grace Decoy Museum, they attract humans too. Those who think duck decoys sound pretty blase will be impressed by the craftsmanship, not to mention the rich history of waterfowling in the region. There’s even an exhibit of master carver R. Madison Mitchell’s workshop (a replica, of course—this is a decoy museum, after all).

Massachusetts: The Museum of Bad Art

MOBA/SHUTTERSTOCK

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but the Museum of Bad Art is here to remind you it’s OK to think some art is just not good. Its gallery is currently closed for renovations, but when it reopens, it’ll be back to featuring some of its 700 pieces, like an oil painting of a Red Sox player being eaten by a centaur-like fan, and a painting of an Aztec emperor who seems to be high-fiving a man in a turban. Despite the cheeky descriptions put together by the MOBA, some of the artists do have some undeniable talent.

Michigan: Knowlton’s Ice Museum of North America

COURTESY KNOWLTON’S ICE MSUEM OF AMERICA

The Knowlton’s Ice Museum of North America is dedicated to all things ice: ice picks, ice wagons, ice boxes, ice crushers, ice buckets, ice plows, ice … well, you get the idea. If you get your fill of those cool artifacts, rest easy knowing that while the founder was busying himself hunting down ice-related memorabilia, his wife had her own side project collecting dolls, and 300 of them are featured in the museum.

Minnesota: SPAM Museum

COURTESY HORMEL FOODS CORPORATION

Love it or hate it, you’re bound to learn something new at the SPAM Museum in Austin, Minnesota. It’s a quirky, punny space where you can hear all about the canned meat’s role in World War II, race to produce your own faux SPAM, and of course, taste a “spam”ple of the product.

Mississippi: The Apron Museum

COURTESY KIM ROBERTS

The Apron Museum in Ioka, Mississippi, is a hands-on experience. Items aren’t hidden away in glass cases but are out in the open, ready to be touched and tried on in a grown-up game of dress-up. It’s not all about gingham smocks, but the 3,500 aprons come from different decades and countries, telling stories through their style and craftsmanship.

Missouri: Leila’s Hair Museum

YVONTREP/SHUTTERSTOCK

Leila’s Hair Museum boasts that it’s the only hair museum in the world, though we can’t imagine why no other exhibit space would want to feature so many artworks made of human hair. And how is the human hair used, you may ask? Well, it can be woven into jewelry or wreaths (popular in Victorian times), or pulverized into powder to be mixed in with paint. Creepy? Perhaps. Impressively intricate? Most definitely.

Montana: Dumas Brothel

COURTESY DAVID & CHARLEE PRINCE

As the longest-running brothel in the United States, the Dumas Brothel managed to stay up and running for almost a century, from 1890 to 1982. The historic building later operated as a museum revealing some of the ill-reputed activities of yesteryear in the mining town. It’s currently closed for renovations after changing hands to new owners, but it’s expected to reopen in spring 2019.

Nebraska: Klown Doll Museum

COURTESY THE KLOWN DOLL MUSEUM

Stay far, far away from Plainview, Nebraska, if clowns or dolls give you the creeps. For everyone else, the Klown Doll Museum is a quirky collection that’s been around since the Plainview Klown Band started playing oom-pah-pah music back in the ’50s. Say “hello” to Stumpy the eight-foot clown before stepping inside to take in the thousands of clown dolls that have been donated to the museum over the years. Check out these other 50 American small towns known for the strangest things.

Nevada: Tom Devlin’s Monster Museum

COURTESY TOM DEVLIN’S MONSTER MUSEUM

When a TV and film special-effects makeup artist lets audiences get up close and personal with his mask creations, you get Tom Devlin’s Monster Museum. Horror fans will get chills (in a good way) coming face-to-face with Frankenstein, mummies, and other spooky monsters.

New Hampshire: New Hampshire Snowmobile Museum

DENNIS W DONOHUE/SHUTTERSTOCK

Winter sports fanatics will be in paradise with a visit to the New Hampshire Snowmobile Museum in Allenstown (which, interestingly, isn’t the only museum of its kind in the state, thanks to Crane’s Snowmobile Museum in Lancaster). To some, it might look like a garage full of old machines, but to members, it’s the preservation of a mode of transportation that made rural life possible in the snowy North.

New Jersey: Silverball Museum Arcade

COURTESY SIERRA RICHARDSON & ATLANTIC CURRENT MAGAZINE

If museums tend to leave your family yawning, the Silverball Museum Arcade in Asbury Park, New Jersey, is the place for you. You can get hands-on experience (read: play) with vintage pinball machines, plus other old-school arcade favorites like Pac-Man and Galaga. Best of all? You can leave your quarters at home because the entry fee includes all the play time you want.

New Mexico: International UFO Museum and Research Center

COURTESY INTERNATIONAL UFO MUSEUM AND RESEARCH CENTER

In 1947, southeastern New Mexico became the site of the “Roswell Incident” alleged flying saucer sighting, and the city is now home to the International UFO Museum and Research Center. Visitors can learn all about that mysterious event from 70 years ago, plus freshen up on the latest and “most qualified” information on recent UFO evidence.

New York: Mmuseumm

KIME AIT/SHUTTERSTOCK

The smallest museum in New York City sums its vision up pretty well: “Now is always weird. Now must have been weird for the Neanderthals. Now was certainly weird during the Middle Ages. And now is definitely weird now.” The one-room Mmuseumm showcases objects that highlight just how weird the ordinary can be. There are bread clips, anti-snore devices, selfie sticks, toilet plungers and more, paired with earnest descriptions that make you laugh…and think.

North Carolina: Elsewhere

COURTESY ELSEWHERE

Elsewhere bills itself as a museum, but the title doesn’t quite capture the heart of this creative playground. After the owner of an old thrift store passed away, her grandson declared “nothing for sale!” and reopened the old shop as a museum/artist residency. Now visitors can hunt through the frozen-in-time collection of toys, typewriters, clothes, and more, plus get a sneak peek at the artists’ recent creations.

North Dakota: Paul Broste Rock Museum

JACOB BOOMSMA/SHUTTERSTOCK

Overlooking the Great Plains of North Dakota is the state’s very own “acropolis on a hill”: the Paul Broste Rock Museum. It all started when its namesake’s founder built up a rock collection in the ’20s and ’30s, then built a museum in the ’60s that’s rocky from the outside in. This rock collection is far beyond anything you started as a kid (no offense) and has rare, priceless pieces that can only be found in more big-time museums—and sometimes, not even in those.

Ohio: Pencil Sharpener Museum

COURTESY PENCIL SHARPENER MUSEUM

Put down your phone and remind yourself of the good ol’ days when all you needed was a paper and pencil—and, of course, something to sharpen that writing utensil. The Pencil Sharpener Museum is said to be the largest collection of its kind in the country, boasting more than 3,400 items. These aren’t your basic pencil-case goodies, but mini works of art in themselves, shaped like grandfather clocks, racecars, typewriters (ironically), and more.

Oklahoma: American Banjo Museum

COURTESY AMERICAN BANJO MUSEUM

The banjo doesn’t get as much attention as guitars and synths these days, but it has deep roots in American history. The American Banjo Museum explores the past and present of the instrument, starting with American slaves in the 1600s and spanning through ’20s jazz, ’40s bluegrass, ’60s folk, and beyond. You can even try your own hand plucking away at a real banjo’s strings.

Oregon: Freakybuttrue Peculiarium

COURTESY MIKE WELLINS

Enter the Peculiarium…if you dare. Fair warning: This isn’t an attraction for the faint of heart. Spooky music sets the mood as you look over your shoulder to see a larger-than-life-size Bigfoot staring back. Photo ops include a face-in-hole–style scene of aliens disemboweling visitors, and you can peek inside a “haunted” dollhouse featuring a gruesome massacre scene. Pro tip: Guests with “decent costumes” can get in for free. If you thought the Peculiarium was weird, you’ll laugh out loud at the 50 dumbest laws from every state.

Pennsylvania: Mister Ed’s Elephant Museum

COURTESY MISTER ED’S

“Mister Ed” Gotwalt received one elephant as a wedding gift and gradually bought or was gifted more and more until “it just got out of hand” and grew into what’s now Mister Ed’s Elephant Museum. The 12,000-strong collection is a herd of circus souvenirs, toys, and figurines from around the world. Visitors shouldn’t miss a taste of fudge from the candy emporium on the premises either.

Rhode Island: Musée Patamécanique

BRIAN A JACKSON/SHUTTERSTOCK

Don’t feel bad if you have trouble wrapping your brain around what Musée Patamécaniqueis all about; this cabinet of curiosities is dedicated to “patamechanics” and pataphysics, a study of what lies beyond metaphysics (as if metaphysics weren’t hard enough!). It’s only open for private tours, which have to be set up in advance. The museum stays purposely secretive, but rest assured it will be an experience like no other.

South Carolina: Tea-rific Teapot Museum

ALISON HENLEY/SHUTTERSTOCK

Everything is quaint and cozy in the Tea-rific Teapot Museum, from the moment you step through the teapot-shaped entryway. Not only do visitors get to take in more than 5,000 teapots, but they can get their afternoon fix with a cup of tea and a little something sweet to go with it.

South Carolina: The Kazoo Factory

STEFAN ROTTER/SHUTTERSTOCK

The main attraction at The Kazoo Factory is, well, the kazoo factory, but casual visitors can skip the $7 guided tour and browse the free museum instead. It’s fun for all ages, but parents be warned: Your child will want a factory-fresh kazoo, which you will hear for the rest of the day.

South Dakota: International Vinegar Museum

THAMKC/SHUTTERSTOCK

It’s a staple in every household, but vinegar hardly gets the time of day in most family discussions. You’ll look at that all-purpose salad-dressing/DIY-cleaner/pickling liquid in an all-new light when you hear about its history as far back as the ancient Egyptians at the International Vinegar Museum. A vinegar tasting is an eye-opening (er, tastebud-opening) experience, as are the 100-plus ways you can use vinegar and the paper and ceramics made from none other than the good stuff. Who says you can’t attract flies with vinegar? For some more cool history, learn the strangest fact about every U.S. state.

Tennessee: The Salt and Pepper Shaker Museum

CARYN ROUSSEAU/AP/SHUTTERSTOCK

You’ve seen plenty of quirky salt and pepper shakers, but you’ve never seen so many in one place as in the Salt and Pepper Shaker Museum. An archaeologist turned her collection hobby into a full-fledged museum, which now showcases more than 20,000(!) pairs set up in cute little scenes, separated by 1,500 pepper mills. These aren’t all just kitschy thrift store finds either—you’ll learn all about how they’ve changed from ancient times to the 16th century to now.

Texas: Dr Pepper Museum

MIKE BRAKE/SHUTTERSTOCK

The original Dr Pepper bottling plant is in Waco, Texas, and now it houses the Dr Pepper Museum & Free Enterprise Institute. It’s not actually owned by Keurig Dr Pepper, but it is the home to more than 100,000 soda-related artifacts, from old bottles and ads to a go-cart and bottling equipment. Oh, and of course you get a free Dr Pepper with your ticket.

What do bread and puppets have in common? Both food and theater are necessary for the body and soul—and thus one theater company’s idea of a piece of bread with every puppet show was born in 1963. The Bread and Puppet Theater Museum is a collection of the company’s old puppets and props, filling a 150-year-old Vermont farm to the brim. Instead of trying to preserve decades-old puppets for generations to come, the museum is all about accepting that decay is just part of life, so you’ll want to visit before the best pieces have withered away.

Virginia: Shenandoah Caverns (parade floats)

COURTESY SHENANDOAH CAVERNS FAMILY OF ATTRACTIONS

The underground marvels of stalactites and stalagmites in the Shenandoah Caverns are breathtaking enough, but visitors also shouldn’t miss a stop by the museum of parade floats. Those creations you see on the small screen or from the sidewalk during parades? They all have to go somewhere, and giant pieces from the 1949 inauguration of President Truman, Miss America pageants, the Rose Parade, and more have all found a home in Shenandoah Caverns.

Washington: Nutcracker Museum

COURTESY LEAVENWORTH NUTCRACKER MUSEUM

Don’t save them for the holidays—nutcrackers are a year-round feature at the Nutcracker Museum. The star of the show is Karl, a German-created six-foot-tall nutcracker, with a moving mouth and all. Not that the other 7,000 pieces on display are exactly living in his shadow. With some coming from as far back as Roman times, they’re equally impressive.

West Virginia: Mothman Museum

GREGORY M. DAVIS JR/SHUTTERSTOCK

Do you believe in the supernatural? In 1966, a flying, red-eyed monster is said to have terrorized Point Pleasant, West Virginia, and the Mothman Museum explores the spooky legend. Read newspaper clippings about the strange events, take a look at the original police reports, and peek at props from the movie The Mothman Prophecies. Those who believe should plan a visit around the annual Mothman Festival, happening this year in late September. Don’t miss the strangest unsolved mystery from every state.

Wisconsin: National Mustard Museum

COURTESY NATIONAL MUSTARD MUSEUM

As the story goes, the National Mustard Museum was created after founder Barry Levenson was wandering the grocery store, feeling lost in the world since the Boston Red Sox had lost the 1986 World Series. Inspiration struck in the mustard aisle, and he started stocking up on mustard then and there. Six years later he opened his collection to the public, and it now showcases more than 6,000 mustards from around the world. Work up an appetite wandering through the mustards and memorabilia so you have room for the free tastings—you can’t find mustard flavors like chocolate or tequila many other places.

Wyoming: Medicine Bow Museum, fossil house

SANDRA FOYT/SHUTTERSTOCK

The Medicine Bow Museum is a fairly run-of-the-mill local history museum (which certainly isn’t a bad thing), covering the area’s railroad, historic Virginian Hotel, Native Americans, and more. But it’s now working on a noteworthy addition, the Fossil Cabin. The house has been sitting outside the town for less than 90 years but is dubbed the “world’s oldest building” thanks to its unique construction material: dinosaur bones. The nearby Como Bluffs used to be a “dinosaur graveyard,” so Wyoming resident Thomas Boylan used about 5,800 pieces from incomplete skeletons to build a cabin sure to attract people to his gas station. It certainly became a talking point for a roadside attraction off Highway 30 for decades, though the Medicine Bow Museum is moving it onsite so it can get the recognition (and renovations) it deserves. Next, get more strange-but-real travel inspiration from the strangest roadside attraction in every state.

Ah Yes Enslaved Meme Meaning Review

Ah yes enslaved Meme

Ah yes enslaved meme — is a surreal meme with a 3D model of the head of a man who looks at a bottled water and says: «Oh yes, enslaved moisture».

Origin of Ah yes enslaved meme

The author of the meme is the redditor necro-dog. On April 2d, 2019, he posted a picture of Meme Man in the r/dankmemes subreddit. The post collected 2.5 thousand likes.

For several weeks, the picture of  «enslaved moisture» was distributed across various social networks. This meme was especially well received on Facebook.

In June, redditors began to add additional panels to the picture. For example, the screen from an article entitled «Why is the millennial humor so weird?»

Next, other memes created in the same way began to appear. So, instead of a bottle, a can of honey appeared — “enslaved sperm”. Or a light bulb — «enslaved sun».

Meaning of Ah yes enslaved memes

Memes with Meme Man have always been surreal, so they did not succumb to any logic. As for the «enslaved» memes, the meaning here is simple. You need to find an object or phenomenon that can be described with the word «enslaved».

is Equifax Breach Settlement Real ? Lets Know

The settlement of up to $700 million includes as much as $425 million for individual compensation. With so many Americans affected, it’s very likely you could qualify for some form of compensation as a result of the settlement. And with so many names, addresses, birthdates and Social Security numbers leaked, you could still be at long-term risk for identity theft. Here’s what you need to know.

In July 2019, several readers contacted Snopes to inquire about the authenticity of a class-action settlement involving the credit-reporting agency Equifax, in light of multiple social media posts and news articles. In particular, Time magazine’s widely shared reportbore the headline “Equifax Might Owe You $125 for Its Massive Breach. Here’s How to File a Claim,” and stated:

“After the enormous 2017 data breach that revealed the private information of millions of people, credit bureau Equifax plans to pay millions to those affected. The company recently settled to pay up to $700 million in restitution and fines to settle with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. $425 million will go to those who were affected by the breach, which exposed social security numbers of nearly 150 million people. The website where those affected can file a claim is now live …

“If you were affected, you’ll have access to free credit monitoring and identity theft protection for up to 10 years. If you don’t want the credit monitoring, you can simply get a $125 payment. Anyone who had expenses as a result of the breach, such as losses, accountant fees or freezing a credit report, can get a payment of up to $20,000.”

This and several other articles were accurate, and the settlement agreement was authentic. Furthermore, around 147 million people were affected by the Equifax data breach, meaning there is a significant chance that any given U.S.-based reader could be eligible to take part in the settlement. On July 22, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) wrote in a press release that:

“In September of 2017, Equifax announced a data breach that exposed the personal information of 147 million people. The company has agreed to a global settlement with the Federal Trade Commission, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and 50 U.S. states and territories. The settlement includes up to $425 million to help people affected by the data breach.

“If your information was exposed in the data breach, you can file a claim at EquifaxBreachSettlement.com for the benefits described below … ”

The FTC website went on to list several benefits potentially available to affected individuals, including:

  • A $125 payment or up to 10 years of free credit report monitoring (or 18 years of free monitoring if you were aged under 18 at the time of the breach in 2017.
  • Monetary payments, capped at $20,000 per person, to cover any costs to you from the breach, such as
    • Losses from unauthorized charges to your accounts
    • Having paid for credit monitoring
    • Having paid to freeze or unfreeze your credit report
    • Any relevant fees you may have paid to an attorney or accountant
    • Claimants can also get compensated for any time they spent dealing with the consequences of the breach, at a rate of $25 per hour, up to 20 hours in total.

The official website of the settlement is EquifaxBreachSettlement.com, and all relevant details can be found there. The site also features a tool that allows readers to check whether they are eligible to receive any benefits. It requires users to enter their last name and the last six digits of their social security number.

Was I affected?

The Equifax Data Breach Settlement website has a look-up tool where you can find out whether your data was compromised.

How do I get the money?

If you’d like to get 10 years of free credit monitoring — or $125 if you already have ongoing credit monitoring — you can make a claim. You can choose to receive the payment at home as a check or as a debit card after final approval from the court, which is set for December 19.

What if my identity was stolen?

Per the settlement, you’re eligible for seven years of “free identity restoration services,” according to the FTC. If you find out that your personal data has been misused, you can call the FTC’s settlement administrator to get help.

Should I opt out?

Opting out of the settlement means you don’t forfeit your rights against Equifax and can still file your own lawsuit against the company. Those who can prove that they took a hit above $125 can get $25 for every hour spent pulling their lives together in the wake of an Equifax-related identity theft. That deal is capped at $20,000. Don’t opt out if you want that option. If you think your personal damages as a result of the data breach exceed $20,000, talking with your attorney about a separate suit could be an option. But you’d need to make sure you opt out of this settlement class first.

How do I exclude myself?

If you’re one of the Americans whose data was exposed, you can send a letter filing a “request for exclusion,” postmarked no later than November 19.Excluding yourself means you’d retain your rights to sue Equifax on your own, should you chose to, based on claims related to the 2017 data breach.

What if I do nothing?

If you don’t do anything, you relinquish your right to sue Equifax in the future, and you give up on the $125 or 10 years of free credit monitoring provided by the settlement.Your deadline to opt out is November 19, and your deadline to file a claim based on this settlement is January 22.

FaceApp Old Filter challenge will show you in age 70 years time

It seems that most of these internet ‘challenges’ amount to little more than an excuse for people to share yet another photo of themselves. The latest is the ‘age challenge,’ in which people are encouraged to use the Faceapp old age filter on a selfie and share it with the world.

Dubai: Unless you have been living under a rock in the social media world over the past week, you will have seen your friends posting wrinkly old photos of themselves or of celebrities with the hashtag #FaceApp.

The app has gone viral in the region and across the globe this week; all thanks to a simple face mapping AI trick. Celebrities and regular folks alike have been sharing on Instagram and Twitter images of what their faces would look like in 60 years; and let’s be honest, the ‘old’ selfies look extremely realistic.

What is it?

FaceApp is a mobile application designed to create realistic transformations of faces using various filters and features, the first version of which was released in 2017. The free version offers a limited choice of filters including the one that is going viral right now.

The feature that has tweeps going crazy for the app is the ‘old’ option where the app gives you three versions of your face – two young and one that looks really old and spookily probable.

We’ve already featured the baby filter and gender-swap ‘viral sensations,’ where people played around with themselves and celebrities too, so now, obviously, it’s the turn of the oldies. Faceapp uses neural networks to modify a face on any photo while keeping it photorealistic, in this case adding the signs of aging including wrinkles, grey hair and sagging skin. How well it works remains to be seen, I guess we’ll find out in the future!

Would you give it a try? Scroll down to see how others are looking in a few decades time, and let us know what you think in the comments!

When is Area 51 Raid And What is Area 51 Raid Memes ?

Over 400,000 people have committed to a Facebook event pledging to “Storm Area 51” in September in an effort to “see them aliens.”

As of Friday, 416,000 people were listed as “going” to the planned raid, which event organizers say will take place on Sept. 20 at 3 a.m. An additional 428,000 people were listed as “interested.”

Attendees will supposedly meet at a nearby “tourist attraction” where they will “coordinate our entry.”

ASTRONOMERS CREATED A ‘COSMIC CHEAT SHEET’ TO HELP LOOK FOR ALIENS

“If we naruto run, we can move faster than their bullets,” the event description said referencing a Japanese comic character known for his speed.

“Lets see them aliens.”

The Area 51 Raid Memes

The truth is out there, and we’re gonna find it. Even if we have to Naruto run into Area 51 and storm the base ourselves.

A whole lot of conspiracy theorists, alien lovers, tinfoil hat aficionados, and shitposters have recently pledged their interest in a Facebook event titled “Storm Area 51, They Can’t Stop All of Us.”

“If we Naruto run, we can move faster than their bullets. Lets see them aliens,” the event description says. Over 400,000 have RSVP’d that they will go on September 20, and another 400,000+ are at the very least “interested.” Let’s see the U.S. military try to stop that level of civilian dedication.

It goes without saying that the base has been theorized to either hold aliens, or at least contain classified information on alien encounters, for decades. But the people need answers — and even though the government has recently admitted it studies UFOs, we need to see those aliens with our own two eyes.

The tongue-in-cheek event is obviously a parody — I mean, the group hosting is called “Shitposting cause im in shambles.” But that doesn’t mean the public can’t adjust their tinfoil hats and dream a little.

From the looks of the memes coming out of this potential event, everyone wants to get in on the alien action.

David Harbour Leaving ‘Stranger Things’ Finale SPOILERS

Warning: The following contains spoilers for Season 3 of Stranger Things. If you’ve yet to finish your binge, you might want to watch now, read later.

There’s no way, right? No freakin’ way could Stranger Things really have killed off David Harbour‘s beloved Chief Hopper in its Season 3 finale. That’s as unthinkable as Steve Harrington having a bad hair day!

As Jim Hopper would say, “Mornings are for coffee and contemplation” – but this morning, it’s more like hysterical crying and confusion.

Now that you’ve finished your eight-hour bingeing marathon of Stranger Things season three, you probably have a lot of questions about that electrifying finale and the fate of Jim Hopper – and we did too!

ET sat down with actor David Harbour last week at Netflix’s junket in Los Angeles to get his exclusive answers on what it was like to bring “Dad Hopper” to life, his honest reaction to the season three finale and what that mysterious post-credits scene could mean.

That being the case, I’ve come up with a way — three ways, actually — that Hop could’ve survived the blast that destroyed the Russians’ interdimensional gate opener. I know — maybe I’m grasping at straws here. But if they’re straws that let me — all of us — imagine Hop pulling through to finally get to have dinner with Joyce at Enzo’s, I’m gonna grasp away. My theories:

1. Since neither we nor Joyce saw Hop blown to smithereens — you’ll recall, she shut her eyes and turned away as she turned the keys to set off the explosion — there’s a chance that he went from tearfully gazing at her to lying flat on the ground fast enough to avoid the full brunt of the blast. If he did, that all but guarantees that he’s “the American” that the Russkies have locked up in Kamchatka, does it not?

2. If Hop isn’t “the American,” perhaps the explosion knocked him through the gate to the Upside Down before it slammed shut. I know it seems like the detonation would have sent him flying in the opposite direction, but this is the Upside Down we’re talking about. If up is down and down, up, who’s to say that forward isn’t backwards? This would also explain why, as far as we know, his body was never recovered.Stranger Things Season 3 PhotosLaunch Gallery

3. Hopper’s vanishing act is part of some plan that he and Owens concocted on the sly so that they could ensure that the Russians’ operation overseas is shut down without endangering El and Joyce. If the Russkies believed that Hop was a goner, they’d have no reason to go after his crush or his daughter to discourage his attempts to thwart them. And that sad smile that he flashed Joyce before the explosion did suggest that he might know something she didn’t — or it couldhave, anyway!

Beyonce Real Hair: Shows Off Her Natural Hair

Crazy in Love With Beyonce’s Natural Hair

I feel like everyone is obsessed with Queen Bey.

I love her and her family, but sometimes I don’t get all the hype. Like, of course, I love her music and probably l know way too many of her songs by heart. But her beyhive is crazy capital ‘c.’

Beyoncé Shows Off Her Real Hair as Her Mother Tina Knowles Praises Her for Being ‘Au Naturale’

In the clip shared by Tina Knowles, Beyoncé can be heard calling her mom “annoying” for making a big deal out of long tresses

But everyone is always trying to find out more about her super low-key life. So you can imagine when they saw Beyonce’s natural hair they went crazy. Some comments were good but with the good came with an equal amount of doubters questioning whether or not it could all be Beyonce’s natural hair.

Over the years, Beyoncé has become known for her many hairstyles. Whether it be wigs, weaves or box braids, the singer, 37, is always switching it up, leaving many to wonder about the state of her natural tresses.

On Wednesday, Beyoncé’s mom Tina Knowles-Lawson put the mystery to rest by sharing an Instagram video of her daughter’s real hair.

“I was trimming my baby’s hair today and I am mocking Neal! Getting on her nerves! Being really annoying,” Lawson, 65, captioned the post.

In the clip, Lawson can be seen combing through Beyoncé’s dark brown and blonde-highlighted hair, which reaches down to her waist.

“Au naturale darling,” Lawson says in a deep voice.

“Mama that’s really annoying… I mean very annoying,” Beyoncé responds, interrupting her mom.

Lawson then repeats the phrase, prompting Beyoncé to cut her off again saying, “Mama…”

Lawson’s post has since been flooded with comments praising Beyoncé for having “hair goals.”

“Beys hair is long like her money, lol. LENGTH BABY! LENGTH!!!!” one fan wrote.
